There's nothing quite like the thrill of seeing a live performance, and the Dome is a fantastic spot to enjoy a show. This venue was recently rebuilt from the ground up, and now hosts up to 100 events each year. Whether you're into music, dance, or even cage fighting, there's something for everyone at the Dome!

Summer

Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championships 

If you love surfing, then the Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championship is a must-visit. This weeklong competition takes over Virginia Beach and has been running since 1963. Come and watch these talented surfers as they ride wave after wave. There are also a lot of free activities, such as workouts, games, and BMX demos. You can also sign up to compete, if you feel like joining in on the fun. So grab a beer from one of the beer tents and sit with your toes in the sand as you watch! All in all, it's the perfect way to experience this awesome sport and have a blast with friends and family.

Virginia Beach Super Girl Festival

In September, the Super Girl Festival comes to Virginia Beach. It’s an amazing celebration of women’s sports and music. This free event features the world’s largest women’s surf competition, three days packed with live music, and over 25 awesome free classes to join in on. If you’re ready to celebrate women, hear some great tunes, and watch the ladies catch some waves, the Super Girl Festival is the place to be.

Annual Pig Pickin’  

Want to raise money for a good cause and enjoy some BBQ? Buy a ticket to the Pig Pickin’! This all-you-can-eat pig roast and BBQ raises funds for the Sandbridge Volunteer Rescue Squad, who respond to over 1,000 emergency calls each year. All the money goes to help them continue their hardworking efforts to keep the community safe. Now that’s something we can all get behind.

Fall

Neptune Festival

Every year, the Neptune Festival takes over 35 blocks of the boardwalk and puts on a spectacular event! There are more than 20 performances from bands, while over 200 artisans display and sell their arts and crafts. Food and shopping vendors also fill up the boardwalk, allowing you to grab a meal as you see what you can see. Over on the beach, you can walk amongst whimsical and intricate sand sculptures by famous sculptors and marvel at their talent. The Neptune Festival is truly a unique and magical experience, and you'll be so glad that you came.

Charlie Normile’s Turkey Trot

When Thanksgiving rolls around, some people stay in, while other get out and have a run! In Sandbridge, we have Charlie Normile’s turkey trot, which is a race in memory of young Charlie and James Normile, who passed away far too soon. The race also raises funds for the Navy SEAL Foundation, in honor of those who gave their all. So put on a sweater and a beanie, throw on your favorite sneakers, and hit the road for this local Sandbridge Thanksgiving tradition. Before you know it, you’ll have worked up an appetite for your feast and earned that slice of pumpkin pie.

Winter

Polar Plunge

For brave souls who want to take a dip in the wintery water for a good cause, sign up for the Polar Plunge! This annual event has willing participants dive into the ocean in February to raise funds for the Special Olympics of Virginia (so all of your shivering is worth it). This event is a great way to build camaraderie with your friends and hopefully make some new ones! So, wrangle a few of your most stalwart pals and join the chilly fun.

Spring

Shamrock Marathon

The Shamrock Marathon is Virginia Beach’s festive race for St. Patrick’s Day. There’s a course for all skill levels, such as a kids ‘ one-mile race, an 8k, a half-marathon, and a marathon. The course is flat and scenic, and the finish line is right at the Atlantic Ocean, allowing you to race towards the sea during your final stretch. Afterwards, there’s a party on the beach hosted by Yuengling beer to celebrate everyone’s participation. So, lace up your running shoes and get ready to run. Everyone is a winner at the Shamrock Marathon!
